Hello everyone, I hope you are well and that you had a great season. Here in Lyon, we are already thinking about next year ! The project took some time to take shape, but we are finally ready to invite you to an "off"-authentic camp, during the Easter weekend of 18th to 21st april 2014. We are expecting friends from numerous groups in France, including our hosts from Bouvines, but also Italy, UK, and Germany.
The time frame of the event is going to be 9th to 11th century and we hope to confront viking and norman groups on the battlefield. The program is yet to be defined, there will hopefully be workshops in the morning, and a general battle the afternoon, but non-warriors are more then welcome to join us as we would like to please everyone. We are only inviting groups that we know from 1st hand contact, as our main concerns are safety, and historical accuracy. The participation fee has been set to 20 euros, and the dead line for sending your registration is the 20th january.
The site we are booking has been successfully tested as a setting for a historical camp. Located in a small and quiet village cul-de-sac, circled by tall trees and a stream, the site is composed of 2 great fields, a wooden area, and a large mill converted in a restaurant/guest-house. Water and wood supplies are in abundance, and easily accessible. A large refrigerated chamber will be available to store the food supplies during the whole weekend. There are several toilets, accessible in the building on the site,as well as a shower, and a bathroom.
My viking group, Grävlingar is co-organizing this event with our norman friends, Anatis Ordo. We will provide more info on the rules and organization soon. We know it's a long way for you, but we would be pleased to have you.
